2011 Audi S3

The Audi S3 is produced by the German manufacturer, Audi. The Audi S3 is a hot hatch, or high performance version, of the Audi A3 hatchback. Although they are similar in appearance, the Audi S3 offers a lot more than the A3. Audi S3 versions of first and second generation A3 models have been manufactured. The Audi S3 has been manufactured since 1999, with the second generation having been produced since 2006.

The second generation of the Audi S3 offers better performance than the first generation. A number of updates were made to the S3, so that the newer version with its more powerful engine and four wheel drive can reach speeds of 62 miles per hour or 100 kilometers per hour in 5.5 seconds.

The S3 is also available as a five door version, known as the Sportback, which is slightly more expensive. Paying extra for the Sportback will prove useful for drivers who regularly carry passengers in the back seat, however, as the convenience will be worth the extra cost.
The S3 is not sold in North America, because Audi believe it would be in direct competition with the Golf R32 from Volkswagen and that it would also affect sales of Audi's own TT model.

The Audi S3 is designed for action. It performs well without any fuss, making it a good choice for drivers who demand a lot from their vehicles. Upgrading from the A3 to the S3 makes sense if you are going to drive your car hard and make use of this additional power and performance. The manual transmission version of the S3 allows the driver to shift through the gears quickly, and much more smoothly than in an A3.

The S3 performs particularly well for long distance driving, so it will be a good choice for people who regularly need to travel long distances by road. Driving the S3 is a comfortable experience. It makes driving long distances feel easy. The combination of excellent performance and ease of driving provided the Audi S3 could prove dangerous for careless drivers, however, since it does make it easy to drive too fast. Unless this car is driven by a responsible person, it could be easy to exceed the speed limit.

The S3 may have either a 6 speed manual or an S-Tronic transmission. The S3, as with all models in the Audi S line, comes with quattro four wheel drive. The Audi S3 features a switch that can be used to alter the suspension. The Sport setting will not be of much use to most drivers, however, since the ride will be more comfortable on the normal setting.

The S3 provides a similar amount of internal space for passengers and luggage as the Volkswagen Golf. It will fit five adults while leaving an acceptable amount of luggage space. The rear seats can be dropped in order to provide more storage space, if necessary. The S3 is available either as a three or five door car.

The Audi S3 is generally considered to be a relatively expensive vehicle. The S3 is not just a more powerful vehicle than the A3 upon which it is based, but a more expensive one too. As well as costing more than the Audi A3, the S3 is more expensive than many similar vehicles from other manufacturers. For the price of an S3, it would therefore be possible to choose a powerful saloon car such as the 330i SE from a prestigious manufacturer, BMW. Another option would be to save some money while getting a car with similar features to the S3, such as the Scirocco coupe from Volkswagen or even to stick with the A3 from Audi. Paying for the extra performance of the S3 may not be sensible for all buyers, since they will not need the additional power. However, drivers who need more performance will find that the S3 is more suited to their needs than the cheaper A3.

The S3 does offer a number of advantages over similar models from different manufacturers, which may make it a better choice for some drivers. Neither the Sciorocco nor the 3301 SE provide four wheel drive, for example. This could be an important feature for drivers who live in a hilly, remote area, although it is not a feature that would be missed by the many drivers who rarely leave the city. The four wheel drive feature does make it possible to accelerate more quickly from a stationary start, however, which may be an advantage for some drivers and m ay make driving the S3 a more pleasurable experience for high performance drivers.

Although the competition in the same price range is very tempting, the S3 will be the best choice for drivers who want a practical, uncomplicated car that will be easy to drive, but who need more than the Audi A3 is able to provide.

New Audi RS3 Reviews and Specification

There is a difference between slowly evolving and lack of design direction. To be honest, I'd err on the side of the latter for Audi, as, for all it is a clichéd saying, they really do all look very, very similar. They're aiming to compete with Mercedes and BMW -- both of whom have exceedingly individual designs for each model -- which highlights Audi's lack of individuality... I don't know, they're just boring to me, and to plenty others, by the look of it.
God people are thick, mostly BMW lovers, not sure why, I guess someone has to buy those Bavarian pieces of s**t. As stated a million times, this is a mule, not the actual RS3 or next generation A3! It's using the shell of the current S3 Sportback. Simple. As an Audi driver, an RS3 is pointless, devaluing the brand by offering something too premium for too small a price, just buy an RS4.
This 2.5-liter turbocharged engine produces 340 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. Weight of the RS3 will likely be very similar to the TT-RS(1,450 kilograms (3,196 pounds). That means 0-62 mph(0-100 km/h) in around 4.6 seconds and a top speed around 179 mph (288 km/h).

2010 Toyota FT-EV Electric Cute Car

Toyota FT-EV Electric Car 1Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc. today announced that it will display the Toyota FT-EV concept on opening Media Day at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), confirming its plan to launch an urban commuter battery-electric vehicle (BEV) by 2012. This announcement, coupled with its compressed natural gas powered Camry Hybrid concept display at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show, signal Toyota’s intention to broaden the scope of its advanced alternative-fuel vehicle development.

Toyota FT-EV Electric Car 2“Now, more than ever, while we are so focused on the pressing issues of the moment, we cannot lose sight of our future,” said Irv Miller, TMS Group Vice President, Environmental and Public Affairs. “Nowhere is this more important than with our industry’s duty and commitment to provide true sustainable mobility with vehicles that significantly reduce fuel consumption, our carbon footprint and overall greenhouse gases.” The FT-EV concept shares its platform with the revolutionary-new iQ urban commuter vehicle. Already a huge hit in Japan, the iQ is lightweight and seats four passengers in comfort and security, while delivering exceptional mileage, sporty performance, unique refinements and a fun, youthful image.

Toyota FT-EV Electric Car 3Toyota’s FT-EV concept imagines an urban dweller, driving up to 50 miles between home, work and other forms of public transportation, such as high-speed rail. Although, for now, the FT-EV remains a pure concept, it represents a natural pairing of product strategies.

Toyota FT-EV Electric Car 4“Last summer’s four-dollar-a-gallon gasoline was no anomaly. It was a brief glimpse of our future,” said Miller. “We must address the inevitability of peak oil by developing vehicles powered by alternatives to liquid-oil fuel, as well as new concepts, like the iQ, that are lighter in weight and smaller in size. This kind of vehicle, electrified or not, is where our industry must focus its creativity.” Although BEVs and new smaller vehicles like the iQ will be a key component of Toyota’s sustainable mobility strategy, the conventional gas-electric hybrid, like the all new third-generation Prius, is considered Toyota’s long-term core powertrain technology.

Toyota FT-EV Electric Car 5Last year, Toyota announced that it planned to sell one million gas-electric hybrids per year sometime during the early 2010s. To accomplish this, Toyota will launch as many as 10 new hybrid models by the early 2010s, in various global markets. The new third-generation Toyota Prius and all new Lexus HS250h, both debuting in Detroit, are the first two examples of that effort. Also, last year, Toyota announced that it would roll-out a large number of plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHVs) to global lease-fleet customers in 2010. That schedule has been moved up.

Toyota FT-EV Electric Car 6Beginning in late 2009, Toyota will start global delivery of 500 Prius PHVs powered by lithium-ion batteries. Of these initial vehicles, 150 will be placed with U.S. lease-fleet customers. The first-generation lithium-ion batteries powering these PHVs will be built on an assembly line at Toyota’s PEVE (Panasonic EV Energy Company, LTD) battery plant, a joint-venture production facility in which Toyota owns 60 percent equity. During its development, the new Prius was designed and engineered to package either the lithium-ion battery pack with plug-in capability, or the nickel-metal hydride battery for the conventional gas-electric system. The 500 PHVs arriving globally in late 2009 will be used for market and engineering analysis. Lease–fleet customers will monitor the performance and durability of the first-generation lithium-ion battery, while offering real world feedback on how future customers might respond to the plug-in process. “Future customers will have high expectations for these emerging technologies. This Prius PHV fleet program is a key first step in confirming how and when we might bring large numbers of plug-in hybrids to global markets,” said Miller. “Our business is no longer about simply building and selling cars and trucks. It is about finding solutions to mobility challenges today and being prepared for more daunting challenges in our very near future.”
